How Well Do You Know Mayweather and McGregor?

The most-anticipated bout in boxing history is set to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday 26 August when Floyd Mayweather Jr and Conor McGregor step between the ropes.

Current UFC Lightweight Champion McGregor has built up some great hype over the past few months to the point that this is now expected to be the highest grossing pay-per-view in history.

Floyd Mayweather is the current holder of that record when his fight with Manny Pacquiao in May 2015 was bought by 4,600,000 viewers – more than double any other PPV buy-rate at the time, and only his fight with Oscar De La Hoya earlier this year (2.4m) has had more than half.

Many expect this to be Mayweather’s last fight, whether he increases his record to 50-0 or suffers his first loss, whilst this is Conor McGregor’s first boxing match having last fought in the UFC in November 2016 – beating Eddie Alvarez by TKO.

McGregor’s record in Mixed Martial Arts is 21-3 but question marks remain over his stamina. He has only once competed in a professional fight beyond three rounds, or 15 minutes. If his fight with Floyd Mayweather goes the full distance it will last 36 minutes.

However, bookmakers Betfair don’t expect McGregor to survive that long. The sportsbook and betting exchange currently have the American as the 1/5 favourite in the Mayweather v McGregor fixed odds market and the favourite to win in rounds 6, 7 or 8 at 12/1.
